The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra at Pittville Pump Room Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra

The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra presents in its' inimitable style, an all new celebration of the Golden Age of the Hollywood Musical. From Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers to Dick Powell and Ruby Keeler, Hollywood brought us, for one brief shining moment, some of the greatest songs ever written. From the Charleston and Puttin' On The Ritz of the 1920's through to swing hits of the 1930's and 1940's such as Glen Miller's In The Mood, The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra play the greatest dance music and the best tunes of the Jazz Age, including songs by Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Cole Porter.

The orchestra played for the Savoy Hotel's highly successful Stomping at the Savoy between 1997 and 2004, and has often performed on BBC radio.

As well as playing at the Savoy in London other performance highlights have included many years playing for dancing for the Henley Festival, Earl Spencer's 30th Birthday Party (where Princess Diana asked the orchestra to play In The Mood - twice!), special BAFTA awards parties for Julie Andrews and Sean Connery, the first ever Proms In the Park and a residency at The Ritz Hotel in Piccadilly.
